Hayden Szeto was born in Vancouver, Canada the first generation son of a renowned Chinese painter. Fluent in English and Cantonese, Hayden grew up with two primary passions: sports and acting. While in high school he was rewarded with laughter while performing his own sketch, which sparked his long-term goal to pursue the entertainment industry. In addition to acting, Hayden played basketball and accelerated in Wing Chun, the martial arts style made famous by one of his idols, Bruce Lee. Never losing sight of his passion for filmed entertainment, Hayden moved to America to study with Larry Moss, Ivana Chubbuck, and earn a degree from the New York Film Academy.
Named as 2016’s “New Romantic Lead” in People Magazine’s Ones to Watch issue, Hayden Szeto has captured the attention of audiences and critics alike with his breakout role in the STX Studios feature, THE EDGE OF SEVENTEEN.
In the teen comedy from producer James L Brooks, Hayden stars opposite Hailee Steinfeld as “Erwin,” the awkward but slyly chivalrous charmer whose halting attempts to woo her have garnered him early notice for his “winning” and “scene-stealing performance” that will have him “leaping up casting directors’ lists.” The film, which also stars Woody Harrelson and Kyra Sedgwick opens wide November 18th.
